trap_send -- generate traps

Syntax

trap_send ip_address community trap_type [ enterprise_specific_trap_type ]

Description

trap_send is a program to send trap messages to trap monitoring stations. It takes as arguments the IP address and the community name of the monitoring station and the integer number that corresponds to the trap to be sent. Optionally, trap_send takes an integer number that corresponds to an enterprise specific trap.

Legal values for generic_trap_type are:

Warm Start

Link Down

Link Up

Authentication Failure

EGP Neighbor Loss

Enterprise Specific
The optional argument enterprise_specific_trap_type is specified when the value of generic_trap_type is 6. The meanings and values for enterprise specific trap types are defined in the corresponding enterprise specific MIBs.
