SCO OpenServer installation media

The SCO OpenServer media kit provides both a floppy Boot Disk and the bootable SCO OpenServer System CD-ROM.

In addition, images of all floppy disks you might need exist in the /images/boot directory on the CD-ROM. See ``Creating SCO OpenServer floppy media'' for information on how to create any of these disks.

The floppy disk images include:

install.img
An image of the primary Boot Disk, which you can use to replace a lost or damaged copy.

smallmem.img
An image of a small kernel Boot Disk, for use on systems with small memory (32MB) configurations. This kernel has all of the disk drivers removed except for IDE/ATAPI (wd) and Adaptec 1520 (smad). Kernel buffer allocations are also reduced and may affect installation speed.

btld.img
An image of the first Boot-Time Loadable Drivers (BTLDs) disk, containing drivers for SCSI host adapters, some of which are not supported by the floppy Boot Disk.

NOTE: Because SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.6 and earlier systems are unable to uncompress the drivers in the SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 BTLD images, you cannot use any of these drivers on pre-Release 5.0.7 systems.

The following lists the SCSI host adapter BTLDs that are provided in this image. (All of these BTLDs are also available on the SCO OpenServer System CD-ROM).

ad Adaptec 154x, 164x and 174x (in standard mode)

btld2.img
An image of the second Boot-Time Loadable Drivers (BTLDs) disk, containing drivers for SCSI host adapters that are not supported by the floppy Boot Disk. There are also some additional BTLDs provided for your convenience.

NOTE: Because SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.6 and earlier systems are unable to uncompress the drivers in the SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 BTLD images, you cannot use any of these drivers on pre-Release 5.0.7 systems.

The following lists the BTLDs that are provided in this image. (With the exception of the ct driver, all of these BTLDs are also available on the SCO OpenServer System CD-ROM).
