Administering virtual disks

Monitoring virtual disk performance

In the Virtual Disk Manager, select a virtual disk, select Examine Performance from the Disk menu, then click on Refresh to obtain current statistics.

A snapshot of disk I/O statistics and read/write ratios are displayed for the virtual disk and for individual disk pieces within it. ``Application and filesystem requirements'' explains the statistics displayed.

Use the Refresh button to update the statistics or the Zero button to clear existing statistics.

Use this information to monitor I/O activity on your system. To reduce performance constraints, balance the I/O more evenly as described in ``Application and filesystem requirements''. For more information on tuning your system, see ``Tuning virtual disk performance''.
