Overview of Development Systems for SCO OpenServer

Java Development Kit (JDK)

Use the Java Development Kit (JDK) for Java development on all SCO UNIX platforms, including SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7. The JDK is provided on the UDK CD-ROM, provided in the SCO OpenServer media kit.

NOTE: To develop or run Java applications on SCO OpenServer, the appropriate OSRcompat Binary Compatibility Module must be installed on both development and application deployment systems.

If your application is 100% Java and already exists on another platform, you may not need to modify or port it for SCO OpenServer. Make sure the JDK and the OSRcompat module are installed on your SCO OpenServer machine, then move the bytecodes onto the system and run them.
