Using alternate font server configuration files

You can use font server configuration files other than the default. This is useful for starting a custom font server.

The following steps show how to start a font server that reads a custom configuration file:

1. Create the custom configuration file. For example, the file might be called myfont.config and might reside in user tammyr's home directory /u/tammyr.

2. Edit the file from which the font server will start, for example .startxrc in user tammyr's home directory. Add the command to start the font server with the custom configuration file:

      /usr/bin/X11/fs -cf /u/tammyr/myfont.config &
   

3. Stop the X server, then restart it.
