Installation hardware requirements

Before installing SCO OpenServer, take some time to review the status of the hardware on your system and ensure the following:

you meet basic requirements for system memory, disk space, processor, and so forth.
the hardware on your system is supported in this SCO OpenServer release. Hard drives and host-bus adapters are particularly critical. The SCO OpenServer Certified and Compatible Hardware (CHWP) web page contains the most up-to-date information on currently supported hardware. Additionally, the hardware appendices in the SCO OpenServer Handbook contain important notes about issues or limitations that may affect your installation or hardware.
NOTE: If you use drivers and peripherals from a dealer other than SCO, contact your dealer to verify that those drivers work with this release of SCO OpenServer. If the drivers are incompatible, your peripherals will not work.
you have an appropriate boot device installed on the system.
if you are installing on a SCSI subsystem, you have reviewed the notes about SCSI termination and boot phase issues.

If you have just assembled your computer for the first time or are unsure about the hardware requirements, review the manuals provided with your computer and hard disk. In addition, run the system self-test described in your computer's operations guide to detect any hardware problems.
