Basic DNS configuration

When you perform basic DNS configuration, you set up the boot or resolution files that enable your computer as a DNS server or client. If you are enabling a secondary, caching-only, or remote server, basic configuration may completely serve your needs. To configure a primary server, you must also set up DNS zone files by performing advanced DNS configuration.

Edit the appropriate configuration file to perform basic DNS configuration. In some cases, template files are available. The files are:
