New features in this release of NTP
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) was upgraded from
V2 to V3 of the NTP protocol,
defined by RFC 1305. Significant
changes include:

The new command
ntptrace(ADMN),
which traces the master time source of an NTP server.

The maxskew configuration parameter is no longer
supported.

Authentication is now supported, but only using the
MD5 authentication scheme.

Added -d, -p, and -s options to
ntpd(ADMN)
command.

Added lpeers control message command to
ntpq(ADMN).
