C library (libc)

As indicated in the first part of this chapter, libc contains system calls and C language functions, described in the S section of the manual pages. This section contains some of the more important routines in the standard C library. Discussed here are:

• Standard I/O routines

• String, character, environment and memory routines

• System calls
