sapd(PADM)
sapd --
broadcast information about available NetWare services
Syntax
sapd
Description
sapd(PADM)
is the Service Advertising Protocol (SAP) daemon.
sapd implements the NetWare SAP protocol, which is fully
documented in the Networking Guide.
At start-up, sapd sends a request to the network for service
information.
It builds a server information table from the returned packets and
periodically broadcasts the information to the network.
The NetWare registration daemon,
nregd(NWG),
reads the files created by sapd to
locate the names and IPX addresses of NetWare file servers
available on the Internet.
The Network Configuration Manager allows you to set the
delay period that sapd should wait before responding to a
Nearest Server Request.
This configuration parameter is documented in
``SAP reply delay'' in Configuring Network Connections.
sapd reads the file /etc/ipx.d/NPSConfig for its
configuration information.
The
track(PADM)
command can be used to view sapd activity.
sapd is started by
npsd(PADM)
at system start-up time.
Files
/etc/sapd-
the executable
/etc/ipx.d/fsinfo.out-
the server availability file which sapd creates
/etc/ipx.d/NPSConfig-
