Creating custom-installable SSO archives

After populating the SSO tree with the distribution files, run cdmtArchive(CDMT) to create the custom-installable archives:

cdmtArchive

The cdmtArchive command:

• reads the $CDMT_DIR/cdmt.config file, if it exists.

• reads the information from the $CDMT_DIR/sso directory.

• generates custom-installable archives and places the cpio(C) volumes in a subdirectory of $CDMT_DIR/archives.

By default, cdmtArchive creates cartridge tape cpio archives and places them in $CDMT_DIR/archives/TAPE. To change the default media type from TAPE, use the -media option:

cdmtArchive -media media_type

The media_type can be TAPE, CD, or FLOPPY.

To specify the default media in the cdmt.config file, use the archiveMedia attribute in the CONFIG record:

   CONFIG:
   archiveMedia	=	media_type

Once you create the custom-installable archives, you can install them directly using custom(ADM) or copy them to a single media volume:

• To install the software directly to the hard disk from the $CDMT_DIR/archives/TAPE directory:
  
  custom -i -z $CDMT_DIR/archives/TAPE

• To copy the archives to floppy media, enter:
  
  cdmtArchive -media FLOPPY -copy

  This cdmtArchive command prompts you to insert a floppy and then copies the archives to the floppy disk. Use custom to test the installable media. See ``Installing and managing software components''.

``CDMT make install script'' is a sample script that you can include in your make install process, that runs cdmtParse, cdmtCompress, and cdmtArchive.
